Mother Goose

Mother Goose Co-operative Preschool is a non-profit organization that has been active in the community of southwest Hamilton for over 40 years.

More than a school, our co-op is a community of parents joining together to support and encourage our children as they grow and develop. Mother Goose is a great transitional step for children to help them prepare for full time schooling.

Our Preschool Program

Mother Goose provides a preschool program for children ages 2 1/2 to 4 years. The program is designed and led by our RECE qualified teacher, Jane Walker.  We offer parents & caregivers the wonderful opportunity for hands on involvement in our program. Parents & caregivers are encouraged to participate. We have many opportunities for our members to do so.

More than a preschool, our co-op is a community of families joining together in a collective effort to support our children as they grow and develop.

Our program provides a loving, relaxed, and stimulating learning environment for children that enhances all levels of development.  This is done through plenty of play opportunities that promote creativity and imagination. We value our play responsive environment.

As a co-op, we believe the addition of parents in the classroom can offer a wonderful learning opportunity for both the child and the parent.  We believe parents are their children’s first teachers and in order to thrive, they need their relationships to be nurturing and secure.  We set up the environment to be engaging with plenty of opportunities  for positive interactions through PLAY.

Throughout the morning, children are exposed to different kinds of activities designed to help young learners explore and grow.  We use Seesaw to capture and document the learning process.  This is an online tool that helps share and organize your child's experience.

In conjunction with How Does Learning Happen: Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years we believe in inquiry, play-based learning and small group instruction.  When children have this kind of support, the benefits include gaining confidence and self-esteem, building relationships, problem-solving, conflict resolution, expanding language, understanding rules and limits, discovering talents and sparking creativity.  In fact, healthy valuable play touches on every area of a child’s development. Children possess a natural curiosity to explore and play acts as a medium to do so.

Our Schedule

Mother Goose runs for 3 hours, from 9:00 am - 12 noon, five days a week. Parents can enroll their child in one of the following programs:
